[1]CUMBERBATCH, J.: By an indictment dated 6th July 2015 the Defendant was indicted for the offences of Intentionally Causing Dangerous Harm to Melissa Alexander (the Virtual Complainant) and Intentionally Causing Grievous Harm to the said Virtual Complainant between the 17th and 18th December 2012. l21 On the 27th January 2017 the Defendant pleaded guilty to the second court of causing Grievous Harm contrary to Section 98(1) of the Criminal Code 2008. The Crown offered no evidence on the first count hence it was dismissed.
THE FACTS
[2]The Defendant and the Virtual Complainant were previously involved in an intimate relationship which has since been terminated. At the time stated in the indictment the Defendant inflicted severe injuries to the Virtual Complainant causing her to suffer facial lacerations, fracture of facial bones, mandible, head trauma and amnesia.
[3]The Court has considered the favourable comments made of the Defendant in the probation report and the remorse expressed therein. The Court will also take into consideratio·n in the Defendant's favour his offer to pay compensation in the sum of $20,000.00 to the Virtual Complainant for the injuries caused.
SENTENCE
[4]Accordingly the Defendant is sentenced as follows: 1. The Defendant shall serve a period of probation for 1 year during which time he shall: a. receive counselling on the rights of females; b. receive counselling for anger management; 2. The Defendant shall pay compensation to the Virtual Complainant in the sum of $20,000.00 in the following manner; a. The sum of $8,000.00 shall be paid on or before April 15, 2017; b. The balance of $12,000.00 shall be paid 15 monthly installments of $800.00 commencing on the 2nd May 2017 and continuing on the first day of business of each and every month until paid in full; · 3.
